Effy, Artist
Raised in Flamborough, with a decade-long career in design, I draw from my diverse background, including a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Design and a diploma in Graphic Design and Animation. Currently residing in Hamilton, I feel a deep connection to my past community that shaped my growth. My work reflects the depth and complexity of my queer experience, celebrating the beauty of our history and present-day lives while honouring our enduring spirit.

Hands of History
Inspired by Greek sculptures and Sappho’s quote, “Someone will remember us, I say, even in another time,” marble hands symbolize connections between past and present. The gold repairs, inspired by Kintsugi, highlight beauty in brokenness and symbolize queer resilience. The colours of blue, purple, and pink reflect my bisexual identity while the portraits on the arms blend masculine and feminine aspects, reflecting my non-binary identity and fluid attraction.
