Grindstone Creek Bridge Construction Project
The City of Hamilton will replace the Grindstone Creek Bridge on Dundas Street East (Highway 5) between Mill Street and Reynold Street in Waterdown. This replacement is required due to the age and condition of the bridge.

Stage 1 Lane Restrictions
September 2025 for approximately one year
Construction began in the fall of 2025. Traffic remains reduced to one lane on Dundas Street over the bridge. Traffic will alternate directions with eastbound movement form 2:00 AM – 2:00 PM and westbound movement from 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The north side of the bridge will be open to vehicular traffic, with the sidewalk on the north open for pedestrians.
NOTIFICATION OF FULL BRIDGE CLOSURE
From 7 AM on June 1 to 5 PM June 5
Dundas Street East will be closed from Mill St. to 1 st St. to allow for the set up of two large cranes to lift steel girders into place. Access will be maintained for businesses and residents on either side of the bridge but there will be No vehicle or pedestrian access between Reynold St. and Mill St.
