Embrace the Season

There’s no need to succumb to the February blues when there are many wonderful distractions to help you win winter in Waterdown Village. This month’s blog post is all about encouraging you to bundle up and face February head-on.

Waterdown Willy a local groundhog casts his shadow

Start the month without a shadow of doubt.
February 2 is Ground Hog Day – a day that can produce a winter weary shudder or an elated sigh of relief. But here’s a thought – why not celebrate regardless of ‘Waterdown’ Willy’s prediction? If the sun casts a groundhog shaped silhouette across your snow-covered path, simply shadow box your frustration to warm up the chill air. If clouds signal an early spring, be more gopher-like and do your best Caddyshack shuffle with a playful rendition of ‘I’m alright – nobody worry ‘bout me.’ Either way, break the winter slump by busting a few moves. This is a great time to check out a Waterdown Village fitness studio to keep the movement going and warm up from the inside out.

A weekend to feel the love.
Things heat up mid-month when pinks and reds splash through the grey. Think chocolate, cinnamon, flowers, candlelight and maybe a little wine – a romantic night out with your Valentine or a fun-filled experience with your ‘gal’entines or maybe a little pampering selfcare. Find the perfect gift or Valentine experience in a local retailer, restaurant or spa because on February 14, we celebrate and honour love in all its forms.

The Valentine’s weekend continues with an extra day reserved for those in your inner circle. By blood or by bond, February 16 is meant for relishing time with the people you call family. If the weather cooperates, it’s a great day to get outdoors and appreciate the natural playground of Waterdown Village and surrounding area. Hike a trail, skate a loop, take a carpet ride down a slippery slope on moulded plastic.

If it’s more of a fireside and blanket kind of day, snuggle inside with hot chocolate, board games, streaming, good books and takeout. You can find everything you need to make either choice better right here in Waterdown Village.

Feast before fasting
February also marks the beginning of Lent and Ramadan. Depending on your faith, you might be dreaming about a mile high stack of pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, or a hearty meal to get you through a period of fasting and reflection. This is a reminder that Waterdown Village has an abundant choice of dine-in, take-out, delivery and prepare at home meal options to make your Valentine’s, Day, Family Day and everyday delicious.
