Fall for Fun in Waterdown Village
Sweater weather, mulled cider, crisp blue skies, vibrant leaves… and SCARECROWS! Just a few of our favourite things about fall in Waterdown Village. It’s framing up to be another fantastic season in the Village, and yes, we’re here to crow about it.
The 8th Annual Scarecrow Walk starts Oct. 11 and runs through until Halloween. Local businesses and community partners will once again display uniquely decorated scarecrows, animating our streetscape and giving people of all ages more than 130 reasons to Walk Waterdown. Clues featuring mugshots of your favourite monsters will be placed on 20 randomly selected scarecrows for eagle-eyed scavengers to find for a chance to win shopping spree prizes. The Scarecrow Walk has fast become a signature event for the community with families anticipating the annual invasion of scarecrow friends. Breath in that fresh autumn air, discover new businesses, take selfies with your favourite scarecrow entries and test your inner Sherlock Holmes to find all 130+ scarecrows and all 20 clues. The fall fun continues with the 8th Annual Treat & Pet Walk on Saturday, Oct. 26. This popular event brings costumed kids and pets to the streets to collect treats and partake in Halloween-inspired activities. Close to 60 local businesses – each marked with a flying purple ballon – will hand out goodies to dressed up little ones. Some will have treats for masquerading pets. Two treat stations, including the Monster Pit on the patio of The Royal Coachman, and the Legion of Heroes in the front parking lot of the Waterdown Legion, will host special activities and feature appearances by local children’s entertainers. The Legion will also be the gathering place for fur-baby families to show off their adorable pets in their Halloween finery and where they can register to join the Pet Parade for a short loop up Hamilton Street at 11:30 AM.
