The scarecrows landed and YOU all showed up!!

Much gratitude goes to the many who helped make the 2023 Annual Scarecrow and Treat Walks successful.

To Waterdown Village businesses and local community organizations:

Thank you for taking a few sticks of lumber and making simple wooden frames come to life as monsters, superheroes, animals, cartoon and movie characters, fairies, Barbies and more. Your creativity was on full display through the more than 130 scarecrows built. Your efforts were praised loudly and often by peers and visitors alike. Two straw thumbs up for the best scarecrow invasion yet. 

The downside? You made the job of selecting the best-dressed scarecrows impossible.  How could viewers possibility pick just one? You only need view the 2023 Waterdown Village Scarecrow Gallery to see what we mean. 

Fun Facts

• More than half of the scarecrows received at least one vote
• More than 10% received at least five votes
• The difference between top voted scarecrows was minimal

Every single scarecrow was a winner but after final tabulations, business prizes will be awarded as follows:

$100 gift card for True Instinct Dog Training for the Cruella Deville Doggie Daycare display
Barbie Scissorhands Scarecrow at Haircut 1000
$75 gift card for Haircut 1000 for Barbie Scissorhands

$75 gift card to Movement Solutions for the Headless Horseman

Thanks also to the service clubs and community organizations who added to the fall fun. You understood the request and ran with it. Fantastic scarecrows. A name was drawn from all community partners and a $100 gift card will be awarded to the Waterdown District High School scarecrow team.

Thank you for hunting for scarecrows and visiting our businesses. How thrilling to see so many families and people of all ages ‘Walking Waterdown’ to find scavenger hunt clues. Congratulations to everyone who voted for their favourite scarecrows and identified clues. Special congratulations to the 175 of you who made several laps around the business district to find all 20 of the hidden clues!! Scarecrows are built to be seen – you came, you saw, you voted, you played, you stayed and enjoyed all that Waterdown Village has to offer. Thank you.

All Dressed Up – What a Party!
Mother Nature smiled down on Waterdown Village on October 28 for the 7th Annual Treat Walk making it the best one yet. Sincere expressions of gratitude to:
• Businesses who donated treats, handed out treats, ran activity zones and welcomed visitors
• Service clubs who set-up treat stations
• Volunteers who made it all happen
• Dressed up families, many with costumed pets in tow, who made our streets a vibrant hub of fun and colour.
