Every summer, the Waterdown Village streetscape is brightened thanks to the civic engagement of philanthropic local landscapers who donate their time and materials to plant and maintain garden beds throughout the commercial district. Waterdown Blooms gardens represent the quality and wide range of landscaping services offered by our community partners and demonstrate a remarkable commitment to giving back. The gardens improve the vibrancy and aesthetic of the local Business Improvement Area (BIA), and we are incredibly grateful for their continuing support. Be sure to stroll through photos of their gardens below and see the gardens up close and in person when you ‘Walk Waterdown’ each summer.
Flamborough Horticultural Society
The southeast corner of Hamilton and John streets is one of the prettiest places in Waterdown Village thanks to the Flamborough Horticultural Society (FHS). This work of blooming art is the ultimate definition of a summer garden – filled with vibrant colour and verdant stems that sway in gentle breezes. You can take in this beautiful scene as you ‘Walk Waterdown’ or settle in to relax and enjoy the view from one of the nearby benches. Heaps of gratitude goes to our partners at the FHS for not only planting and maintaining this garden, but for their civic engagement in beautifying other corners of our community and for their support maintaining several gardens further south on Hamilton Street.
GELDERMAN Landscape Services
The beauty of the Waterdown Village landscape is also enhanced thanks to the kind support of Gelderman Landscape Services. Established in 1948, Gelderman Landscape Services is a third-generation family business that is well known in the community for the diversity of services provided in commercial landscape management and residential construction. They have been a long-time partner in the Waterdown Blooms program and have supported many Waterdown Village streetscaping initiatives. You can find a variety of perennials and shrubs blooming throughout the season in their picturesque garden bed located on Hamilton Street, across from the Waterdown Legion. Thank you to the Gelderman team for generously planting and consistently tended this garden.
Let’s Landscape Together
The tour of Waterdown Blooms gardens continues with a shout out to Let’s Landscape Together for the wonderful, raised bed they plant and maintain Dundas Street kitty corner to the Dairy Queen. Designing, building and maintaining award-winning gardens since 1996, Let’s Landscape Together has been a Waterdown Blooms partner from the earliest days of the program. Each season, they change it up a little, adding new pops of colour or new areas of visual interest for a refreshed perspective of a well-loved garden. In 2024, Let’s Landscape Together managed the BIA garden beds at the gateways into the Village.
